What exactly is interpreting?
Interpreting means breaking down language barriers and facilitating communication on an equal footing. We support you in bringing together people with different languages, cultures and life experiences – not just word for word, but also in terms of mutual understanding. Whether in courts, in political and social projects or in community settings: interpreting creates access, participation and the opportunity to be heard.
We work in two different modes: simultaneousi.e. almost in real time with only a slight delay, or consecutive,i.e. one speaker at a time. We choose the appropriate form of interpreting depending on the event and situation. As interpreting is a cognitively demanding task, we usually work in a team.
Our services
Conference interpreting
Whether at international meetings, lectures, negotiations or conferences – we ensure that communication across language barriers is possible. In this way, we lay the foundation for dialogue on equal terms and ensure that all participants can contribute and feel included.
Court interpreting
As publicly appointed and generally sworn interpreters, we regularly work in courts and public authorities. In doing so, we enable people to access proceedings, information and a fair hearing. We provide both consecutive and simultaneous interpreting in court, which saves a considerable amount of time.
Specialist translations
Specialist translations require linguistic precision and an understanding of the specific context. We translate texts carefully, clearly and professionally – with an eye to content, tone and the people for whom they are intended. As certified translators listed in the Federal Judicial Database we are also authorized to provide certified translations of your official documents for government agencies such as the registry office, the court, or for the recognition of academic qualifications.

Interpreting equipment
What are the options?
At multilingual conferences, simultaneous interpreting is usually carried out from a soundproof interpreting booth. The interpretation is broadcast to participants via the conference sound system. This setup is primarily used at conferences, congresses, annual general meetings and events with a large number of participants.
A guided tour system (PFA in German) is a mobile audio system for simultaneous interpreting without a fixed interpreting booth. The interpreter speaks into a microphone, whilst participants listen to the interpretation via receivers and headphones. Guided Tour Systems (PFA) are frequently used for factory tours, site visits, trade fair visits, delegation trips and smaller events.
We will be happy to advise you on selecting the right interpreting and conference technology. Thanks to our many years of experience and a proven network of technical partners, we can support you in planning and organising the interpreting equipment that suits your needs.
Of course, we also offer our services for your online events. We would be happy to advise you on suitable video platforms and assist with technical queries regarding the interpreting functions, so that participants can follow both the event and our interpreting without any problems.
This is us: Das Dolmetscherinnen-kollektiv (The Interpreters’ Collective)
We at Dolmetscherinnenkollektiv are three professionally trained interpreters who carry out our work to high standards, in a values-based and collaborative manner.
When we accept assignments, it is because they align with our professional expertise or because we feel a connection to their subject matter. This generates genuine interest and palpable enthusiasm, which underpin our preparation and work and are ultimately reflected in our interpreting – not because we put ourselves in the spotlight, but because we convey content clearly, with commitment and conviction.
We also see ourselves not merely as language mediators, but as part of a wider team. We know that the success of an event or project requires many people with different roles and skills. We always treat our clients, project teams and other stakeholders as equals – because for us, successful collaboration is a collaborative process.
We hear time and again from clients that they value our professionalism just as much as the way we work: approachable, straightforward and with a positive energy that has an impact not only on our collaboration but also on the atmosphere of the entire event. Do you feel we are the right fit? Don’t hesitate to get in touch!
What our clients say
Thank you very much for your professional interpreting service at our event. Although it was a technically demanding conference, you managed to convey the content fluently and comprehensively. Our communication leading up to the event was also extremely pleasant. We look forward to working with you again.
Institut français, Berlin
The interpreters provided simultaneous interpreting from German into English during our so called export management training in Leipzig.
During this time, they demonstrated their high level of concentration and performance, as well as their meticulous preparation in terms of both content and terminology. I can highly recommend their services to any academic institution!
Wojciech Muras
SEPT Competence Centre, University of Leipzig
The interpreters provided support for two major international events organised by our Collaborative Research Centre. At our opening conference, they provided continuous simultaneous interpreting of academic presentations from German into English. Despite the highly specialised nature of the presentations, the interpreting was to the complete satisfaction of all participants. Given our very positive experience, we were delighted to be able to engage the interpreters again for a further event.
Dr Amelie Stuart
Director of the Collaborative Research Centre on Structural Change in Property Ownership at the University of Jena
Does this sound like what you’re looking for? We look forward to hearing from you!
We are based in Leipzig but, of course, work with clients across Germany and beyond.
